Pre-need planning guide
10 min read
Pre-need planning is the kindest gift you can leave your family. The basics:
Write or update your will. Name an executor. Name guardians for minor children.
Designate beneficiaries on every retirement account, life insurance policy, and pay-on-death bank account.
Document your wishes for funeral services, burial or cremation, and any religious or cultural traditions.
Create a master inventory of accounts, passwords, recurring bills, and key contacts (attorney, accountant, financial advisor).
Have a conversation with your family about what you've put in place — written wishes only help if they can be found.
